Re-written February, 1, 2002 the night before my father’s funeral. I read this at his funeral, after some words of remembrance. The last time I saw my father walking, with great difficulty he rose from his chair and appeared in the doorway just before we got in the car to leave, he yelled, “Look for me in the mountains.” He waved and shut the door. I think this poem was a premonition, a preparation for my father’s passing. Good journeys father… When the photo was pulled from an album for a memory board, the scratches appeared in the shape of an inverted mountain.
